Welcome to Varshini 2018 Store
There is no parallel to these anywhere in the world. The marvellous architecture and stupendous craftsmanship seen in Belur and Halebidu temples cannot be described in words and has rightfully been referred to by many authors as “poetry in stone”. One of the true aspects to the beauty of these temples is the manner in which the corners have been sculpted. There are many images at Belur and Halebidu where two shapes merge into one corner, a unique architectural marvel. In this picture at Helebidu Hoysaleshwara Temple, you see Yalis (mythical creatures with the head of lion and the body of elephant seen in most South Indian temples) lined up on either side of the corner.
